In just over a week, it will be the official launch for Toronto Carnival 2014! The free event is held annually at Nathan Phillips Square and marks the countdown for when all the masqueraders hit the road.
What’s different this year is that the launch will be celebrated twice in one day. For those of us who have a 9 to five, and can’t attend the daytime launch from 12 pm to 2 pm, another will be held in the evening from 4 to 8 pm.
According to the festival website:
The official launch presents the activities for the Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival Festival. It is a snapshot of the festivities. Here you can experience the rhythms and vibes of Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival and join in the celebration of the creative spirit of Caribbean carnivals and other events happening in and around Toronto.
The rumour mill is going full force with the chance that a few local and international celebs will be a part of the opening festivities. Stay tuned to the blog and we’ll share all the news!
In the meantime, another favourite tune to get you ready. This one is an oldy but goody! Enjoy the long weekend!
