As we cruise into the final week before the Grand Parade, here is a round-up of official events that you may want to attend. Support the culture!

The Toronto Caribbean Carnival Festival and The Ontario Steel Band association present Pan Alive 2013, this Friday, August 2 at Lamport Stadium. The official event features live music from some of Toronto’s top pan artists as they compete for the top spot. For a taste of what you can expect, check out this winning performance from last year’s winner Pan Fantasy!

The King and Queen show kicks off Toronto carnival weekend, and is one of the only official events that has been a part of the festival from the very beginning. On Thursday, August 1, the Mas bands will showcase months and months of hard work with the presentation of  the King, Queen, Male Individual and Female Individual costumes.

Made up of an obscene amount of feathers, sparkles and jewels the costumes are towering behemoths that command the stage. Competitors are judged on the details of  the costume, how the costume represents the mas bands theme and the performance of the leader.

Last years Queen from Carnival Nationz….

Tickets can be purchased at Ticket Gateway

Stay tuned to the blog for reviews of both events!

Its my dream to take this carnival to all the villages in India every year. I havent been to your carnival cause i was busy working and going to school with minimum pay of 10.25 which is like the last place on earth paying us this amount.

There is a huge protest going on of billions of people repeating around me. I want to take advantage and take financial freedom out of all this since we have space to write off too.

    Thank you for your help

    Kindest Regards,
